However, for best performance it is advised to install a dedicated radar for wave analysis and wave and ship motion prediction. A dedicated radar has several benefits:

• Higher performance: longer prediction times, better accuracy
• No use conflicts with radar for navigation purposes
• Lower radiation levels than conventional X Band pulse radars
